It seems there’d a top secret project brewing over at LucasFilm. According to THR, George Lucas is in pre-production on a CG musical, which will be directed by Kevin Munroe (TMNT) from a script by David Berenbaum (Elf, The Spiderwick Chronicles).
LucasFilm say its too early to officially comment on the movie, but one thing that is known is that it involves fairies. Hopefully it’ll be tricksy, dangerous fairies, rather than sweet little boring ones in frilly dresses. It’s also known that it’ll be a musical, although it seems they’ll be taking the music from a variety of sources, rather than writing all new tunes for the film.
The extent of George Lucas’ involvement in the fairies film isn’t known, as he’s currently busy finishing off Red Tails, the movie he wrote and is executive producing about America’s first black pilots. While it would be nice if there was a little more info, it’s good to know that Lucas is finding things to do that don’t involve Star Wars or Indiana Jones. As long as he doesn’t make another Howard The Duck, that’s fine by us.
