Chris Morris (of Brass Eye and The Day Today fame) doesn’t seem to like to get out of bed unless he’s doing something that can be described as edgy and controversial. His first feature film as writer/director, Four Lions, is no exception, taking the very serious subject of radicalist Muslim suicide bomber and turning it into a comedy about would-be jihadists, hampered by the fact they’re complete idiots. The film premiered to mixed review at Sundance, with some responding to its satrical wit, which others said it was too silly and trying to be controversial for its own sake, with nothing to back it up (and that no matter what you do, suicide bombing isn’t funny). The film is sure to raise plenty more question when it gets released later this year, but until then, click below to watch the clip.
