Agent Coulson, played by Clark Gregg, may not be the most memorable character from the first Iron Man movie, but he’s just got a whole lot more interesting thanks to the news he’s going to be one of the crossover characters between the Marvel’s superhero movies as they build up to The Avengers.
In Iron Man, Agent Coulson worked for a US government agency called the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division, better known as S.H.I.E.L.D. The agency, headed by Nick Fury (played by Sam Jackson, who will also show up in multiple movies), is key in the formation of The Avengers, so it makes sense that Coulson will also be popping up and laying the groundwork for the eventual superhero mash-up in other Marvel movies.
Coulson is already slated to appear in Iron Man 2 and now Variety reports that he’ll also be popping up in Thor. It suggests we’ll also be seeing him in The Avengers, when S.H.I.E.L.D’s plans come to fruition and the likes of Thor, Iron Man and Captain America all join up as one almighty team.
