Sometimes Hollywood is unfathomable. Why wait five year to set in motion a sequel to a movie which wasn’t very good and didn’t make a huge amount of money? While this sort of thing seems to happen surprisingly often, the latest unrequested follow-up to be put into the works is a sequel to the 2005 Mark Wahlberg movie, Four Brothers.
While the original, about four adopted brothers who reunite to avenge their mother’s murder, was alright, it really didn’t cry out for a sequel. According to THR, many of the original creative team are already attached to the follow up, with Wahlberg eyeing a return, but not officially signed on yet.
David Elliot and Paul Lovett, who wrote the first movie, are also penning the second, which will go under the incredibly cheesy title, Five Brothers. There are no plot details available yet, or indeed info on which of the other brothers would be back. While Garrett Hedlund would see to be out (and you’ll know why if you’ve seen the first film), there’s no news on whether Tyrese Gibson and Andre Benjamin will be returning.
To be honest, I wouldn’t be shocked if this one simply got lost in development and was never heard of again, as it’s difficult to see Paramount giving it the greenlight unless it can be made incredibly cheaply.
