Tom Hanks is heading back to the director’s chair. In the 90s, the actor directed several episodes of TV series, such as Tales From The Crypt and From The Earth To The Moon, and then made the nostalgic 1950s music movie, That Thing You Do, in 1996. The film may not have been a masterpiece, but it certainly showed promise, however since then, his only directorial effort has been a single episode of Band Of Brothers.
Now Variety reports that it he’s decided it’s time to step behind the camera again, and not only that, but he’s also written the script and will be starring in Larry Crowne as well. The film will also feature Julia Roberts, which is great news as the duo had wonderful chemistry in Charlie Wilson’s War, and it’ll be good to see them together on the screen again.
However the one thing we don’t know is what Larry Crowne is all about, as Hanks looks to be keeping that pretty close to his chest. All we know is it’ll feature a middle-aged man forced to reinvent himself and find a new career. That could mean pretty much anything, so we’ll have to wait for more details on that score.
Filming is due to begin in LA in April.
