At the end of last week, the only person that we knew was starring in Steven Soderbergh’s spy drama, Knockout, was martial artist, Gina Carano, but since then a whole slew of major male names have been added to the roster, including Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Dennis Quaid and Channing Tatum.
Now we’ve got another to add to the list – young Michael Anagarano, star of Forbideen Kingdom and Gentlemen Broncos – who THR says is in negotiations to join the film.
Knopckout follow Carano’s character, a black ops operative who is framed for murder and goes on the run to try and prove her innocence and find out who’s behind the plot to bring her down. While all the actors previously announced will be members of various secret spying organisations who are trying to deal with the AWOL operative, Angarano will play a teen who sees Carano in trouble and decides to help, unwittingly ending up as her partner.
Although Knockout sounds more generic than most of Steven Soderbergh’s films, hopefully he’ll be able to inject some of the fun of Ocean’s 11 into the movie, and he’s certainly lining up an impressive cast to help him. Shooting is due to begin next month.
