Mel Gibson is back in a big way. After spending a couple of years in the doghouse following his DWI arrest, he’s starting his comeback with a range of new films where he’s going to attempt to rehabilatate his image and try to put the ‘sugartits’ jokes to rest once and for all.
However while he’s starring in the likes of Edge Of Darkness, The Beaver and How I Spent My Summer Vacation, one film he hasn’t been attached to is George Miller’s proposed new Mad Max movie, Fury Road. From its earliest days several years ago we knew that the plan was to find a new, younger Max, but that didn’t mean Mel couldn’t turn up for a cameo, even if rumours suggested he wasn’t interested.
Although there’s still no news on whether he will appear, the likelihood is now much greater as according to Moviehole, Gibson’s production company/mini studio Icon Entertainment will co-produce Fury Road. Of course this doesn’t mean he will cameo, as he may just have decided he wants to make a bit more cash out of the franchise that made him a star, but its certainly far more likely than it was.
