Kevin Bacon is one of the most dependable actors in Hollywood. Despite never being at the top of the a-list, he’s been steadily working and starring in films for well over 20 years now. He’s got a new one to add to the list, as Screen Daily reports that Bacon has signed up to appear in Super, which has just started filming in Louisiana.
He’s joined a cast that includes the previously announced Ellen Page and Liv Tyler, as well as Office star Rainn Wilson, in a film about someone who decides to become a real-life superhero. Bacon will play the villain of the piece, a smooth-talking drug dealer called Jacques, who steals the wife of an average guy played by Wilson, causing the latter to become a one-man crime-fighting force known as The Crimson Bolt. More realistic superheroes seem to have become quite popular recently, particularly with the buzz surrounding Kick-ass and the low-key popularity of the Woody Harrelson flick, Defendor. The film, directed by Slither helmer James Gunn, should be out sometime next year.
