Yesterday we reported that Bryan Singer has signed up to direct another X-Men movie, First Class, about young mutants finding their way at Professor Xavier’s school just after it’s been set up, and it seems the director has wasted no time in making his presence felt. Until now, The OC creator Josh Schwartz has been the man handling scripting duties, but he’s now been replaced, with THR reporting that Jamie Moss will be taking over.
Although he’s not a well-known name, Moss wrote the Keanu Reeves film, Street Kings and has also worked on the screenplay for a live action Hollywood version of Ghost In The Shell.
Previously X-Men producer Lauren Schuler-Donner has said that the film will largely deal with younger versions of the original X-Men team, such as Scott Summers, Jean Grey and Beast, and we’ll only see those who were among the first class at Xavier’s school in the upcoming movie. It also appears the film will deal with the first meeting between Xavier and Magneto, and dissect the disagreements which led to the events of the first three movies.
Many were worried that First Class would take X-Men in a cheest teen flick direction, but with Moss and Singer on-board, it seems we could end up with something quite interesting.
