The comedy Date Night isn’t due out in the UK until April 9th, but stars Steve Carell and Tina Fey must have had such a good time making it that they’re already planning to team up for another movie. THR reports that the duo are now loosely attached to a film called Mail Order Groom.
Although you can pretty much guess the plot from the title, it’s about an unlucky-in-love woman, who ends up getting a husband from Eastern Europe and bringing him back to the US.
Although Fey may not have officially signed on yet, as the film is based on an idea by her husband, Jeff Richmond, as well as screenwriters Robert Carlock and Scott Silveri, you can imagine there’ll be some pressure on her to take the gig. However a lot will depend on the Carell and Fey’s schedules, as both are shooting their respective TV series, 30 Rock and The Office, until March and then have to go into heavy promotion on Date Night, leaving them only a short window to make Mail Order Groom before they go back to TV-land.
At the moment the project has no director either, so whether it happens with these two in the lead roles is yet to be seen.
