Passion Play is certainly a bizarre-sounding but rather intriguing movie. Although not a vast amount is known about the film, when it was initially announced it was said that Mickey Rourke will play a down on his luck trumpeter, who tries to find redemption by helping Megan Fox’s character, who was described as an angel. Although intially it was thought Megan might be a metaphorical angel, she cleared things up by telling MTV, that her character would be a “caged circus freak with angel-like wings growing out of her back,” who may or may not really be from heaven.
Now Production Weekly has let a bit more info out via Twitter, saying that “Brits Rhys Ifans & Toby Kebbell have joined the cast of Mitch Glazer’s “Passion Play,” which begins filming next week in Santa Fe, N.M.” There’s no news on who they’ll be playing, or indeed what the hell the movie is really about (although with the title, we expect plenty of religious metaphors), but it certainly sounds very interesting. Hell, you’d have to go and see a film where Megan Fox plays a caged circus freak, whatever it was about.
