We can imagine studio executives buying this just because they liked the title, rather than anything to do with the actual idea. Dreamworks has picked up a pitch from About Schmidt producer Michael Besman called Wife Vs. Ninja. Now isn’t that a title that sounds really cool and fun, but you probably wouldn’t actually go and watch the film when it comes out?
We’re also trying to work out quite what the ‘world of high-stakes infidelity’ is, which is how Variety describes the setting of the film. What does that mean? Does Ladbrokes take bets on whether your wife will find out or something? However the film itself is apparently about a Long Island housewife who discovers that the intern who recently took her husband’s heart is actually a ninja assassin intent on stealing his work. Cue much high-concept comedy shenanigans as the wife goes up against her all-action rival.
The script will be written by Besman, Michael Zam and Jaffe Cohen.
