Clint Eastwood is quite unusual, as while most directors and stars tend to move from studio to studio with each new movie, for the past 35 years Clint has had an incredibly close relationship with Warner Bros, which has backed most of the films he’s made as either an actor or director since the late 60s, with only a few exceptions.
As a result THR reports that the studio is planning to celebrate their relationship with the director by cashing-in on it in the US and bringing out a vast box set of 35 of Clint’s Warner movies, under the title ‘Clint Eastwood: 35 Films, 35 Years at Warner Bros’. It’s described as the biggest box set ever released devoted to a single filmmaker, and will cover everything from 1968’s Where Eagle’s Dare to the recent Gran Torino, including film he’s either acted in, directed or where he’s done both. The movies will be spread across 19 discs and also include a feature-length documentary on the actor/director by film historian Richard Schickel.
For the $180 the set will cost, you’ll also get lavish packaging, and various extra materials, including an hardback book on the man himself. It looks like a truly impressive release, and I certainly wouldn’t mind a massive Clint box set, but unfortunately at the moment it’s only been announced for the US, although hopefully it’ll come to the UK too. However if you want to US version, it’ll be available from February 16th.
