Due to his commitments on Heroes, Zachary Quinto hasn’t been able to capitlise on the success of Star Trek in the way Chris Pine has (who’s lined up a whole raft of high profile projects in the last few months). However it doesn’t look like he’s particularly interested in just signing up for big Hollywood movies that will ensure his A-list status, as THR reports that he’s currently considering whether to star in the Canadian indie feature, Whirligig.
At the moment talks are at a relatively early stage, with Quinto being very selective and needing numerous conditions to be met (mostly concerning his Heroes schedule), so Whrligig is far from being a done deal. If he does go for it, he’ll be playing a man who befriends an older woman’s adopted son, in a misguided attempt to woo the mother. It’s being pitched as a romantic dramedy, so we’re assuming a lot of life lessons will be learned.
The movie will be directed by Chaz Thorne, based on a screenplay by The Listener creator, Michael Amo.
Whether Quinto makes this one or not, he ought to choose his post Star Trek movie soon, to make sure he gets something in before the sci-fi sequel starts shooting.
