The makers of the DC Comics adaptation, Red, are certainly lining up a heavyweight cast. The Robert Schwentke (Flightplan) directed thriller already has Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and the recently announced Helen Mirren, and now THR reports that we can add John C. Reilly and Mary-Louise Parker to the list of talent.
The film will be about former black-ops CIA agent Paul Moses (Willis) who is now living a quiet life in retirement. However when the new director of the CIA learns about what Moses used to get up to, he panics and sends high-tech assassins after the trained operative, which forces Moses out of retirement along with some of his old colleagues.
Reilly is set to play a former CIA operative who is paranoid that everyone is out to kill him, while Parker will be the romantic interest, a federal pension worker who becomes embroiled in the Willis character’s struggle to stay alive.
It may not be a typical comic-book adaptation, but it’s certainly becoming an increasingly interesting looking movie. Expect to see it in cinemas towards the end of next year.
