It’s sure been a good year for Zach Galifianakis. The actor saw his star shoot into the stratosphere with The Hangover, and his role in the $200 million grossing G-Force didn’t hurt either. Since then he’s been lining up parts in everything from Dinner For Schmucks and Due Date, to It’s Kind Of A Funny Story and Town House.
Now comes news, via THR, that he’s in negotiations to play Humpty Dumpty in the Shrek spin-off, Puss In Boots. There’s no info on how important a role Humpty will have in the movie, although we do know that the film will once again feature Antonio Banderas as Puss, who’s joined by Salma Hayek as Kitty, and that the film will show the events leading up to the feline assassin’s first meeting with Mike Myer’s ogre in Shrek 2.
Shrek the Third co-writer and co-director Chris Miller is helming the movie. He also wrote the first draft of the Puss In Boots screenplay, although scripting duties have now been handed over to Tom Wheeler. The film is due in cinemas in 2011, although if you’re worrying the whole Shrek franchise won’t have been flogged to death by then, Shrek Forever After, which reunites all the main cast for a fourth animated adventure, is due out next July.
