Filming may already have begun on Ed Helms new comedy, Cedar Rapids, but the casting announcements are still coming. Variety reports that Signourney Weaver and Alia Shawkat have joined the movie, alongside the previously announced Ed Helms, John C. Reilly and Anne Heche.
The film is about a boring, small town insurance agent, who heads off to an industry convention in order to try and save the jobs of his colleagues and gets a bit of a culture shock in the ‘big city’. Along the way he brefriends a woman (Heche) and meets a man (Reilly) who sees whole convention as a chance to let loose. Weaver meanwhile has joined as the main character’s former 7th Grade teacher, although there’s no news what role Arrested Development star Shawkat will be playing.
The Miguel Arteta directed comedy is shooting now, and certainly seems to be gathering a head os steam and a great cast, which certainly makes this one to look out for at cinemas next year.
