After much speculation over who would star in the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road, including recent claims that Sam Worthington would be taking over Mel Gibson’s role as the post-apocalyptic Max, it’s been confirmed that earlier rumours were correct and it’ll be Britain’s Tom Hardy (Bronson) who’ll be taking the starring role.
Variety has confirmed his involvement in the movie, and says that after much talk in recent weeks, Charlize Theron will indeed also star in the movie, which director George Miller – who also made the other Mad Max movies – plans to film next August in Australia.
Only last week, Miller was refusing to announce any casting at all, but he must have changed his mind. However at the moment he’s still not giving away any plot details for the movie.
The question remains however, can Mad Max survive without Mel Gibson? We’ll have to wait until 2011 to find out.
