January Jones, who plays Betty Draper in Mad Men, is certainly leaping up the movie star scale with the announcement she’s landed her second major movie role in a week. A few days ago it was announced she’d be playing Liam Neeson’s wife in Unknown White Male, about a man who wakes up from a coma and discovers someone has stolen his identity, but nobody believes him.
Now Variety reports that she’s signed up to star alonside Nicolas Cage in the eccentrically titled Hungry Rabbit Jumps, which will be directed by Roger Donaldson (The Bank Job). The film sees Cage as a man who becomes entagled with an underground vigilante organisation after his wife (Jones) is the victim of a brutal crime. As you’d except, he quickly gets in over his head.
Originally the movie was set to star Tobey Maguire, but he’s now just producing the movie, which is set to begin filming in January in New Orleans.
We’re certainly supportive of turning January Jones into a full-on movie star, as she’s superb in Mad Men, although hopefully at some point she’ll start to get roles that doesn’t just involve her playing the wife of the main character.
