It seems we’re allowed to say that Billy Bob Thornton is a movie star again now. Earlier this year he kept walking out of interviews if someone mentioned he appeared in movies and didn’t just talk about his band, but he’s now getting back to the business of acting.
The Bad Santa star has just signed up to appear alongside Dwayne Johnson in the George Tillman Jr. (Notorious) directed thriller, Faster. Johnson will play Driver, who is an ex-con who wants to avenge his brother’s murder. Thornton will be Cop, a policemen who’s on Driver’s trail, and who is determined to bring the killer to justice before Driver can exact his revenge. According to Variety there’s also an egocentric hitman called Killer in the mix, who’s trying to murder Driver. However that role is yet to be cast.
We reckon maybe this should be the start of a trend. Instead of giving characters proper names, Hollywood should just call them by what they do. It’d certainly save the effort of creating proper characters if you can simply signpost who everyone is by calling them things like Driver, Cop and Killer.
The movie is due to start filming early next year.
