Are we finally going to get to see Spider-man battling The Lizard? The last two movies have teased it, with Dylan Baker showing up as Peter Parker’s university professor Dr. Curt Connors. However while he’s taught Spider-man’s alter-ego in the films, he’s never actually done what he does in the comics, which is to create a serum that allows people to regrow severed limbs, but which ends up turning him into a reptilian monster, The Lizard, whenever he gets stressed.
Well, during a Q&A for his new movie, Trick ‘r Treat, UGO reports that Dylan Baker confirmed he’d be back in the role of Curt Connnors for Spider-man 4, although he refused to be drawn on whether he’d just be a background character or if he was going to be a proper villain this time around.
It does seem a bit silly to have someone as good as Dylan Baker keep turning up in Spider-man movies if they are never going to do anything with him. However, with Sam Raimi being incredibly tight-lipped about which villains will be used – the only thing he’s said is that there will be fewer bad guys than in Spider-man 3 – we’ll just have to wait and see whether The Lizard will be showing up, or if Baker will once again just be there to tell Peter Parker he’s late on an essay again.
