With Charlize Theron having stepped aside from making The Tourist and allowing Angelina Jolie to take over her role, she’ll probably be looking for a new movie to fill up her time with. Well, according to EOnline! she may have found it, as they’re reporting that director George Miller has picked her to play the lead in Mad Max 4.
Although the sequel has been on the cards for decades (and almost ended up as an animated movie at one point), this time it looks like it may actually go ahead (that said, it’s still at the stage where everything could fall apart at any second). Don’t expect to see Mel Gibson anywhere near this one as he’s too old to play Max, with the latest reports suggesting Brit actor Tom Hardy (Bronson) may be taking over the role.
Apparently no formal offer has been made to Theron or any other actors as yet, and the studio hasn’t approved Miller’s casting choices, although we would kind of like to see the South African beauty going all post-apocalytic (we imagine many will be hoping for the return of the Aeon Flux catsuits). Whether she gets the role or not, after so many years of talking, let’s hope they actually make Mad Max 4 this time around.
