For quite a while, Rachel Weisz has been attached to the role of Kathryn Bolkavac, in Larysa Kondracki’s film The Whistleblower, which is about a Nebraska cop who serves as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia and outed the UN for covering up a sex scandal.
Well, Screen International is now reporting that Weisz has some cast-mates in what’s turning into a impressively international affair. Joining the Rachel is fellow Brit Vanessa Redgrave, Italian sensation Monica Bellucci, America’s David Strathairn, Russia’s Anna Anissimova and Denmark’s Nikolaj Lie Kaas (who’s becoming increasingly high profile since Just Another Love Story, The Candidate and Angels & Demons). However as yet there’s no news on what roles these international acting luminaries will be playing.
The film, which the production company says will be in the same vein as Silkwood and The Insider, is due to start filming on October 26th in Romania. Expect to see it gunning for Oscars at the end of next year.
