Although Josh Duhamel is an amiable presence and he’s got the job done in TV’s Las Vegas and the Transformers movies, the jury is still out on whether he has what it takes to be a fully fledged film star. However, Disney seems to have some confidence in him, as he’s attached Duhamel to a new buddy comedy, What He’s Got, that they’ve just bought from Hitch writer Kevin Bisch.
At the moment the studio isn’t letting slip about the plot of the movie, although they have said that it’ll be a family friendly feature that will be released under the Disney banner.
With Las Vegas having coming to an end on TV, Duhamel is now free to really work on his movie career. He’s already completed work on next spring’s Kristen Bell rom com, When In Rome, and he’s currently filming Life As We Know It alongside Katherine Heigl, however both or those movies mainly call on him to be the arm candy. He’s yet to show he can handle a film on his own, but What He’s Got may give him a chance.
The other significant thing about Disney picking up What He’s Got is that it’s the first deal completed since Rich Ross took over as the chairman of the studio.
