Lincoln seems to be popular in Hollywood at the moment, with Steven Spielberg prepping a biopic of the president, and Robert Redford making a movie about one of the women accused of conspiring to kill him. However it’s a rather less presidential Lincoln that’s the subject of Lincoln Lawyer.
The Matthew McConaughey movie, based on Michael Connelly’s hit novel, is about Mickey Haller, a wheeler-dealer Los Angeles lawyer who operates out of the back of his Lincoln car. Haller is content with a career defending garden-variety criminals until he lands the case of a lifetime – defending a Beverly Hills playboy accused of murder. However the case turns out to be a lot more difficult than he initially suspected.
Now comes the news that Tommy Lee Jones is in talks to direct and co-star in the movie, although at the moment it’s unclear on what role he would play. The movie would be Tommy Lee Jones’ second outing as a bid screen director after the critically lauded but commercially unsuccessful The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. He’s also making the upcoming The Sunset Limited, based on a script by Cormac McCarthy, for HBO.
There’s no news yet on when Lincoln Lawyer might go into production. (Source: THR)
