The script for Motorcade has been around for a while, with Dreamworks heavily pushing to get it in front of the cameras, but facing an uphill struggle. Initially Underworld helmer Len Wiseman was attached to direct, and stars including Tom Cruise were seriously considering signing up, however no deals were ever signed and Len Wiseman has since dropped out.
Dreamworks isn’t giving up though, as they’ve now signed up Jon Cassar, who’s an executive producer and director for 24, to helm the movie, which is about a disgraced Secret Service agent who happens to be in the wrong place at the right time when the U.S. President is kidnapped in New York.
The studio wants Ryan Reynolds to play the lead role, although it’s not known at this stage how interested he is in the project, or whether his hectic schedule, including the upcoming Green Lantern movie, will permit him time to make Motorcade.Dreamworks is currently pursuing him, but no deals have been signed.
