Samuel L Jackson is undoubtedly one of the hardest working men in Hollywood, even though the quality of the movies he works on can be extremely variable. However he’s just signed up for a movie that could turn out to be a winner, which is an adaptation of the nonfiction bestseller, Same Kind Of Different As Me.
The book is about drifting ex-con Denver Moore – to be played by Jackson – who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a posh Dallas art dealer. The book apparently has all sorts of racial and class themes running through it, with Denver having been raised on a plantation in what’s described as ‘modern day slavery’ and ending up living homeless, before a woman takes him under her wing. However when she becomes ill, he forms an unlikely and uncertain bond with her husband.
At the moment, while Brave One writers Roderick and Bruce Taylor are working on the script, there’s no director and no studio backing. However with Jackson on board, producer Ralph Winter (X-Men, Fantastic Four) will be hoping to secure the money and a helmer soon.
