Earlier in the year, Paramount announced that the third Transformers movie would be coming in 2011, which caused the director to immediately issue a denial, saying they’d got this wrong, and he wouldn’t be able to get Transformers 3 into theatres until 2012 at the earliest. However Bay has now backtracked and agreed that despite the incredibly tight production schedule, the threequel will indeed be in cinemas on July 1st, 2011. Although at the moment that’s only the date for the US release, expect it to roll out worldwide on the same day.
Work began in earnest on the film yesterday, with Bay saying on his official forum that he now has the story and that he’d met with ILM and then flown onto Rhode Island to talk with Hasbro about plans for new characters in the film.
Bay also took the opportunity to take the latest swipe in the back and forth between him and Megan Fox, which started when she criticised his directing style, saying being in his movies wasn’t about acting and how dangerous it sometimes was, which he countered, saying she was young and had a lot to learn (interestingly though, he never said she was wrong, just that she should have known not to talk about it publicly). In his post he says, “Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep. As some directors may be hazardous to your health, please consult your Doctor to determine if this is right for you.”
From the post you get the impression Fox is coming back whether she wants to or not, probably because of the contract she signed before making the first film.
If you’re wondering what this means for Pain And Gain, the smaller movie about a pair on idiot bodybuilders who get caughts up in a kidnapping and extortion attempt that Bay was mean to be directing so he could take a break from FX filled blockbusters, he says that will now be made directly after Transformers 3.
