It’s been suggested for a while the the main child roles in Matt Reeves’ (Cloverfield) remake of the sensational Sewdish vampire movie, Let The Right One In, would go to Kodi Smit-McPhee (the main child from the upcoming The Road) and Chloe Moretz ((500) Days Of Summer, Kick-Ass).
Variety has now confirmed that news and adds that character actor extraordinaire Richard Jenkins will also be in the film.
The film is a coming-of-age horror tale that revolves around the relationship between a preteen boy and a girl who just moved to the neighborhood and happens to be a vampire. Smit McPhee and Moretz will play the boy and girl, while Jenkins will be her bloodsucking guardian, who’s not above hunting the odd human.
The movie is due to start filming soon, with hopes to get it into cinemas sometime in 2010.
One odd things is that the film will be shot in New Mexico. That state is better known for desert locales than the snowy expanses of the original movie, which Matt Reeves said he’d be keeping in the remake (he’s previously said he wanted to shoot the movie in the mountains of Colorado). It may be that they’ve decided for a less snowy look for the movie, or perhaps they’ve found a way to make snowstorms in the desert.
