The Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg action comedy, The Other Guys, has filled out its cast with the annoucement that Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson and Steve Coogan have joined the cast. Jackson and Johnson will play a couple of super-cops, who are always sent out to crack the big cases and are the envy of the rest of the department. However the film will mainly revolve around Ferrell and Wahlberg, who are rather more inept second-tier policemen, but who will presumably be called to step up to the plate.
Variety is reporting that Steve Coogan has also signed up for the movie, although there’ no news on what role he’ll be playing in the film. With Michael Keaton and Eva Mendes having previously signed up for the movie, The Other Guys is certainly shaping up to have a great cast.
While Will Ferrell’s film have tended to be very hit and miss, this one reunites him with writer/director Adam McKay, the man behind Anchorman, Talladega Nights and Step Brothers, which is certainly good news, as he’s one of the few directors that can really bring the best out of Ferrell, possibly because they’ve known each other for so long (their collboration goes right the way back to Saturday Night Live).
The Other Guys is currently due out in the UK on September 2nd, 2010.
