There are a lot of X-Men movies in the works. We already know we’re getting Wolverine 2, there are plans for a Deadpool spin-off (and still rumblings we may get a Gambit movie), the long-gestating X-Men Origins: Magneto is slowly making its way to the screen, and there’s X-Men: First Class, about the earliest students at Professor Xarier’s school for mutants. However the one thing we don’t officially know is which one of them will come next.
Recently producer Lauren Schuler-Donner said that an X-Men movie will be shooting next year, and now a Twitter post seems to have revealed that the movie they’ll be making is X-Men: First Class. Tim Pocock, who played the young Scott Summers/Cyclops in Wolverine twittered, ‘Currently shooting Australian TV series till February 2010…then X-Men: First Class’.
In many ways First Class was the most likely anyway, as all the others seemed too far away from being ready to shoot early next year, while Josh Schwartz’s script for the school-set movie is pretty far advanced. No director for the movie has been announced as yet, and indeed there’s been no official announcement that this will definitely be the next X-Men movie, but it would appear that it is.
