Made Of Honor and Mission: Impossible III star Michelle Monaghan has signed up to appear in the Robert Downey Jr. road trip comedy, Due Date. The film also reunites Hangover director Todd Phillips with Zach Galifianakis, who’ll play the mismatched travelling companion of Downey Jr’s expectant father, who’s desperately racing home in the hope that he’ll arrive before his wife gives birth. Unsurprisingly, Monaghan will play the heavily up-the-duff wife.
It’s not the first time Monaghan and Downey Jr. have starred together, as they both appeared in the excellent 2005 flick, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. They had great chemistry in that movie, although presumably we won’t see as much of that in Due Date, if she’s about to drop a sprog in another part of the country to Downey Jr’s character.
Filming on Due Date is set to begin next Monday, with a release planned for next summer. After that, Phillips and Galifianakis will move on to making the much antcipated, The Hangover 2.
