While many in the Italian American community protest against their constant depiction as gangsters and mafioso in films and TV shows, Chazz Palminteri is not one of them, probably because he’s made quite a decent career for himself playing such organised crime heavys.
Now he’s set to continue his on-screen mob connections by writing and producing an indie drama called Wall Street Mafia, which is about the FBI’s investigation into the mob’s involvement in Wall Street and the world of finance during the mid-1990s. The story will centre of a young hotshot from Brooklyn who goes to work for a supposedly legitimate Wall Street brokerage, only to find himself caught between the Mafia and the FBI – so sort of like The Firm, but without a toothy grinned Tom Cruise.
There’s no news on whether Palminteri will also star in the film, although it’s due to go in front of the cameras next February. Interestingly before then, Chazz is due to star in two performance only stage production of his breakout film hit, A Bronx Tale, in Las Vegas.
