Ever since the release of Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skulls, another Indy flick has been in the works, however as the fourth film took well over a decade to get to the screen after they started working on it, and Harrison Ford isn’t getting any younger, many are still wondering if we’ll ever see it.
However Harrison Ford has been giving an update at the Deauville Film Festival, telling reporters that, “The story for the new Indiana Jones is in the process of taking form.” He also confirmed that Spielberg and Lucas have agreed on the fifth mcguffin (the object/idea the story will surround, such as the Ark Of The Covenant in the first film, or the Holy Grail in the third), although he wasn’t letting slip what this might be. However he did say that, “Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and myself are agreed on what the fifth adventure will concern, and George is actively at work. If the script is good, I’ll be very happy to put the costume on again.”
However, this is about the stage they were at a full decade before Crystal Skulls went before the camera, so getting a script together that they’re all happy with might not be so easy, but hopefully they’ll sort it out, as while many railed against the fourth Indy movie, it was still a lot more fun than most blockbusters, and I certainly wouldn’t boycott a fifth instalment.
