When it was announced that Nic Cage couldn’t agree a deal to play the villain in the superhero flick, The Green Hornet, we said it’d only be a few days before a replacement was announced, as the studio probably already had a back-up ready so that shooting on the movie wouldn’t get delayed (they’re already filming the movie). And we were right.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Christoph Waltz has already been cast in the villainous role. Waltz recently won the Best Actor gong at Cannes for playing a Nazi in Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds, but while he’s been fielding a lot of film offers, it seems the 52-year-old has chosen Green Hornet for his first big blockbuster role. He will play the bad guy in the film, Chudnofsky, who’s been decribed as an intimidating gangster who tangles with the film’s hero.
Filming on The Green Hornet is happening now in LA, and we’re actually much happier to have Waltz as the villain than Cage, as we might actually get someone who seems dangerous rather than just manic.
