So we can cover as many films as possible, we thought we’d give you these quick updates of some of the smaller film announcements…
If you’ve been following these pages closely, you’ll know that when it was announced last week that the Green Hornet was getting pushed pack from July to December 11th, 2010, we said that Sony was going to have to move their live-action Smurfs film, so they didn’t have two of their films competing on the same day. Well, that’s now happened, as the film has been pushed back to a summer 2011 release (probably July 29th). The December release would have also seen it going up against Tron Legacy and Yogi Bear, so it’s probably a good move (Source: ComingSoon)
At Dinsey’s D23 Fan Expo over the weekend, John Lasseter announced a few more people have joined the voice cast of Toy Story 3. Pixar mainstays Jeff Garlin (Wall-E) and Bonnie Hunt (Monster’s Inc., Cars, A Bug’s Life) will be in the movie, while Whoopi Goldberg will be making her Pixar debut (she’s voiced characters for Dinsey before though, such as a hyena in The Lion King). As yet, there’s no news on what roles they’ll play. Interestingly, John Morris, who played Andy in the first two Toy Stories movies, will also be back for the third film, to play Buzz and Woody’s now grown-up owner. (Source: Twitter)
Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights) and Amanda Crew (A Haunting In Connecticut) have been cast in Breaking the Girl, which is due to be directed by TV helmer, Jamie Babbit. It’s the story of a naive college student who loser her scholarship because of a classmate, and so makes a pact with a friend to kill of each other’s enemies. (Souce: Variety)
Spanish director Bigas Lunas (Jamon Jamon) is plaaning to make D D Hollywood with Elsa Patasky and Peter Coyote. It’s the second part of a trilogy about women dreaming of escaping their lowly circumstances. (Source: Variety)
Gabriel Macht, Hank Azaria and Oliver Platt have been added to the cast of Ed Zwick’s Love And Other Drugs. They’ll join Anne Hathaway, Jake Gyllenhaal, Judy Greer and Josh Gad in the film about a pharmaceutical salesman (Gyllenhaal) whose outlook on the legal drugs trade alters when he becomes involved with a woman suffering from Parkinson’s Disease (Hathaway). Macht will play a fellow drug seller who is also involved with Hathaway’s character, Azaria is an unscrupulous doctor and Platt will be Gyllenhaal’s boss. (Source: THR)
The casting of Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson as B.A. Baracus in the upcoming A-Team film has now been confirmed and it’s also now been announced that Canadian actor David Richmond-Peck will play Gammons in the film. Although filming is imminent, there’s still been no official word on who will play Murdock, but current rumours are swirling around District 9’s Sharlto Copley. (Source: Moviehole)
