It won the Palm D’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and now a new trailer for Michael Haneke’s The White Ribbon has surfaced. The film is set just before World War I in a small village in Northern Germany, Strange events happen at the school which seem to be some sort of ritual punishment, but what happens may have repurcussions for the emergence of fascism. The black and white film is out in the UK in November and from this trailer it looks like it’ll be pretty intense, but then you wouldn’t expect anything else from the director of Funny Games.
