When it was first announced that Werner Herzog was planning to remake Abel Ferra’s 1992 movie Bad Lieutenant, it seemed like a pretty bad idea, however as more details have emerged about the movie, it’s looking cooler and cooler. Nicolas Cage stars as a druggie detective anti-hero, who’s in love with a prostitute (Eva Mendes). He’s invetigating the murder of some immigrants in post-Katrina New Orleans, which has virtually become his own kingdom. Anything from Herzog is worth watching, and this looks like he’s taken Ferarra’s idea and spun something very original out of it.
The movie, the full title of which is Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans, is due to debut soon at the Toronto International Film Festival, so to prepare for that ComingSoon.net has debuted the first proper poster for the film. It’s a pretty cool image that raises the anticipation even further. Take a look at the new poster below, or click on it for a larger version at ComingSoon. Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans is due out at the end of November.
