Although Colin Hanks is yet to reach the same heights of fame as his illustrious father, the 31-year-old is nevertheless plotting an interesting course through Hollywood and now he can add to his CV with a lead role in the new indie comedy, Lucky. The House Bunny and King Kong star will be joined by Ari Graynor (Fringe, Nick and Norah), Ann-Margret (Tommy) and Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development) in the movie.
Lucky, written by Saturday Night Live scribe Ken Sublette, will be directed by Gil Cates Jr. (son of the long-time Oscar ceremony producer), and centres on a fledgling serial killer who wins the lottery and attempts to pursue his lifelong crush. It’s a set-up that if done well could offer all sorts of great black comedy, and it’s certainly got a interesting cast.
The movie starts shooting next week in that well-known filmmaking location of Iowa (we’re presuming the makers have got a good tax deal with the state, as few others go there). We reckon this could be one to look out for, as with a fun sounding plot and the easy charm of Hanks, it could be very good.
