Monte Hellman is has been away from cinema for more that 20 years. His last feature-length movie was the less than illustrious Silent Night, Deadly Night III 1989, but he was also the man behind the classic 1971 flick Two-Lane Blacktop and his offbeat movies, several of which starred Jack Nicholson, have maintained an impressive reputation over the years.
Now Hellman is back with the news that his new movie, Road To Nowhere, has started filming in LA. Variety is also reporting that the lovely Dominique Swain and Shannyn Sossamon have just joined the cast and will be starring alongside Cliff De Young, John Diehl, Waylon Payne and Tygh Runyan. Swain will play an investigative blogger who uncovers the supposedly true crime story that the film is based on, while Sossamon will play the femme fatale at the centre of the story.
The film, which is being described as a romantic thriller, is definitely one to keep as eye out for, because although little about the plot has been revealed as yet, the return of Monte Hellman is certainly interesting news. We can’t help but wondering though, what he’s been up to all these years.
