While we might not see her on screen much anymore, it’s always nice to hear what Top Gun and The Accused actress Kelly McGillis is up to. She’s now signed up to appear in the vampire road trip thriller, Stake Land, which is due to be directed by Jim Mickle. While the whole things sound pretty straight-to-DVD, she’s set to play ‘Sister’, a nun who has a crisis of faith when bloodsuckers take over the world. Irish company Parallel Pictures is planning two major movies. One is an adpaptation of Flann O’Brien’s At-Swim-Two-Birds, which Brendan Gleeson is writing and directing. It’s a coming-of-age take about a 19-year-old student who has to deal with the fictional characters from the play he’s writing, intertwining with the people in his life. They’re also working on The Virgin Of Las Vegas, about the phenomenon of Irish show bands, which played cover versions of songs in the early days of rock ‘n’ roll. The film is due to star Liam Neeson, with U2’s Bono directing. (Source: Variety)
Racecar fan Tom Cruise has signed up to narrate a documentary about the history of Hendrick Motorsports. Cruise became friends with Rick Hendricks suring the making of Days Of Thunder, and the documentary, TOGETHER: The Hendricks Motorsports Story, will cover Rick’s 25 years in NASCAR. (Source: THR)
American comedian Jeff Foxworthy has signed up to voice Babe The Blue Ox in MGM’s upcoming animated movie, Bunyan & Babe. John Goodman and Kelsey Grammar are also providing vocals for the film. The movie gives a modern take on the classic American story of lumberjack Paul Bunyan and his bovine companion, with the duo on a mission to save a town from a rapacious real estate developer.
