Maybe there’s some sort of care in the community programme going on in Hollywood, which involves studios making movies starring Martin Lawrence in order to keep him off the streets. There can’t be any other reason they keep letting him star in films. The latest development in this misplaced charitiable work is the announcement that Fox has commissioned a script for Big Momma’s House 3.
Randi Mayem Singer has been tapped to find another adventure for the man dressed as a big, fat black woman, to follow-up the 2000 flick and its 2006 sequel. Singer has some men dressing as women experience, as the screenwriter on Mrs. Doubtfire, but this has to be a bit of a step down for him.
Although Variety isn’t saying whether Martin Lawrence is attached to the sequel, we’d imagine that he is, as he’s not exactly doing much else, and the Big Momma’s House are his biggest movies, barring the Bad Boys films (which people went to watch because of Will Smith, not him).
Let’s just pray they manage to improve on the first two movies, both of which were absolutely awful. Somehow we doubt it though.
