There are some people who seem to think it’s sacrilege, but Sony are making a CG version of The Smurfs, which is due out Christmas 2010. Now the first image of a computer generated little blue one has emerged online, courtesy of PVCBlue.com (which is a slight pervy name for a Smurfs site, it has to be said). The poster isn’t really for the public, instead designed to appeal to companies who might want to make merchandising tie-in deals for the film, although it does give us our first look at the movie.
The Smurfs will be directed by Raja Gosnell (Scooby Doo), and will revolve around a Smurf being accidentally brought to America as a toy for a little girl. She then discovers her new plaything is alive, and has to help him and his fellow Smurfs get back to their home in Belgium. It’s due to be a mix of live action and animation, although it has to be said, the pic in the poster does make this look more like a full-on CG effort, although it is early days.
Anyway take a look at the image and let us know what you think.
