According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nicolas Cage and his hair are set to star in a new 3D revenge movie called Drive Angry. The movie is about a man who is driven by rage and hellbent on finding the people who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby. However the on-the-road pursuit spins out of control and gets increasingly bloody, leaving bodies strewn along the highway, as Nic, well, drives angrily.
The anticipation isn’t likely to rise with news that the film is set to be helmed(and was co-written) by Patrick Lussier, the former editor whose directing credits read like a list of dreck, such as Dracula 2000, White Noise 2 and My Bloody Valentine 3D. However he has provided quite a few excellent moments in those movies, even if he’s had more difficulty sustaining the entertainment for an entire movie, so all he needs to do is sort out how to get between the good bits of his films, and he could be a very effective director.
If Drive Angry can channel the revenge flicks and car chase action movies of the 70s, it might be great, but considering Cage and Lussier’s recent track record, I wouldn’t book a ticket for it just yet if I were you.
