Shane Acker’s animated movie, 9, produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmanbetov, is out in the UK on October 30th, and we can’t wait. In case you didn’t know, the film, about a group of living burlap toys trying to survive in a post-apocalytic world full of creatures trying to kill them, is based on an Oscar nominated short film that Acker created as part of his UCLA Film School senior thesis (some of what they do in the animation department at UCLA is truly extraordinary). It premiered at Sundance, got the attention of Burton and Bekmanbetov, scored its Oscar nomination and has now become a full length film.
The original short is now on Youtube, so we’ve embedded it below so you can take a look at the truly unique and wonderful world. It’ll given you some idea of what the upcoming movie is all about, and what excited people about Acker and his creation in the first place.
