Gus Van Sant is reportedly in talks to direct the movie Restless, based on an original screenplay that’s being shepherded to the screen by Ron Howard’s production company, Imagine Entertainment.
At the moment no one is saying what the movie is about, although The Hollywood Reporter is describing it as contemporary and distinctive love story. Imagine apparently bought Jason Lew’s Restless screenplay after the writer’s New York University classmate, Bryce Dallas Howard, brought the script to her father’s attention.
In fact Bryce seems to have her father wrapped around her finger, as Imagine is also developing a screenplay she’s written along with her friend, Dane Charbeneau, about a groups of 20-somethings haing a quarter life crisis.
However let’s hope Restless is better than the last time Gus Van Sant teamed up with Imagine. That resulted in the 1998 version of Psycho, which was pretty much a disaster all round.
There’s no news yet on when the Restless might appear in cinemas.
