Only a couple of weeks ago Tony Scott’s runaway train flick, Unstoppable, looked like it was coming completely off the rails. The studio was refusing to greenlight the film until they’d found a way to decrease the budget, which meant asking Denzel Washington to take a pay cut. He refused and left the movie, leaving the whole future of the project up in the air.
However Denzel then returned to the fold less than a week later and it seems things are moving forward once more with the announcement (via Variety) that Rosario Dawson is joining the cast. There’s no news on what role she’ll be playing, although the film itself will follow a train engineer (Washington) and the younger man brought in to replace him (Chris Pine) who have to stop a runaway train that’s loaded with toxic chemicals and likely to derail in a small town.
With things chugging along again on Unstoppable, the movie is due to start filming this autumn for a release next year.
