Anybody up for Hancock 2? No, we didn’t think so, but that hasn’t stopped director Peter Berg talking up a possible follow-on from the 2008 movie about a reluctant amnesiac superhero, played by Will Smith, who’s hated by the public and needs a bit of help to rehabilitate his image.
Berg was recently interviewed by SciFiWire and let slip on some possible plot details for the movie. While the first film suggested there were only two ‘gods’ left, the film’s director says, “There might be another god out there.” He also let slip that the subplot about Jason Bateman’s character would pick up where the first film left on, with him just starting his big charity campaign.
However don’t expect the sequel for a while yet. Berg is currently putting together a major new film version of Dune, as well as having, according to IMDB, nine other movies he’s attached to as director that are at various stages of development. He says “They [the studio] like to fast-track it, but Will’s busy, I’m pretty busy. We’re excited to do one, but we want the script to be right and the movie to be right. We don’t feel a burning imperative to go right back into it.”
