We’re still not sure about this whole remaking Straw Dogs business, it just doesn’t seem like a good idea, as how are they going to do it without diluting it? However director Rod Lurie is powering ahead with his new version, despite resistance from people who know and love the 1971 Sam Peckingpah version.
New cast additions have now been announced for the movie, with James Woods, Dominic Purcell (Prison Break) and Willa Holland (The OC) joining the already cast James Marsden, Kate Bosworth and Alexander Skarsgard in the movie.
Filming on the movie begins today in Louisiana, with the plot concerning Marsden as a Hollywood screenwriter who goes with his wife (Bosworth) to her Deep South hometown, but problems arise when her former boyfriend (Skarsgard) sees a chance to reclaim former glories. There’s no news however on what roles Woods, Bosworth and Holland will play.
So does this mean that Louisiana is the American equivalent of Cornwall (where the original movie was set)? I don’t know who that’s more insulting to. Let’s ask the hicks.
