All this Avatar Day stuff has gotten very confusing. Originally we heard that tickets to the preview of 15 minutes of Avatar footage that’ll be showing on Friday August 21st, would be available through the AvatarMovie.com website, but while that’s still true of the US (they’ll be availabe from midday Pacific Standard Time), it seem things are working differently in the UK.
Tickets for selected screenings of the Avatar footage are now available through www.seefilmfirst.com. You need to go to the website, enter the code 302001 and you’ll be given a choice of venues. At the moment tickets are available for showings at the BFI Imax cinema and Vue West End in central London, as well as cinemas in Aberdeen, Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Greenwich, Sheffield, Southhampton, Wimbledon and Manchester. Most screening start at either 6pm or 6.30pm, although there are a few earlier and later viewings.
At the minute it doesn’t appear anywhere else is showing the footage, even if other cities have digital 3D enabled screens. If you want to attend, you’d better head over the seefilmsfirst fairly soon, as tickets are bound to disappear fast.
We’ll let you know if any other screenings pop up.
And if you can’t attend, we’re now hearing the teaser trailer for the film will be available from Thursday, so we’ll bring to you as soon as we can.
